There are two types of Beinoni using different pathways to connect to
God. These two concepts below are explained and contrasted.
1.  The long way:  An intellectual emotional technique – to feel and
understand – the mind controls the heart (Chapters 1-17)
2.  There is a second method which is a visualization technique that
requires just enough emotions to control oneself.  With only
imagination a person can be a Beinoni.  (Chapters 18, end of 19, 25),

Class One. Maamar Hayom Haras Olom 5713 part one. Maase is the end of lifnei haTzimtzum and Machshava means Atzilus. All year only Sof Maase [Kav] comes into Atzilus, on Rosh Hashana Techilas Maasecha [Ohr Lifnei HaTzimtzum that is the mekor for Olomos and higher] also comes down until Asiya. Machshava is Atzilus [explanation: Koach HaGiluy and not a Livush].

Class Two. Rosh Hashana we reach Techillas Maasecha (and higher). This manifests in the idea of Is’hapcha that is higher than Is’kafia. The Rebbe explains two levels in Is’hapcha: A. Where the darkness is replaced by light, B. Where the darkness itself shines. This latter idea is the true uniqueness of Rosh Hashana.

the multiple reasons underlying the use of the shofar at Rosh HaShana.
Sages discussed include Reb Sadya Gaon as explained 700 years ago by
the RADA (Reb David Abudraham), the Rambam, as well as Chassidic
commentary from the Baal Shem Tov and the Berditchever as explained by
the Rebbe Maharash.

Class One Hundred and Thirty Six, The Chumash: The “Well of Miriam” Class Three.
This class is the first of the new school year (5780-5781/ 2020-2021) and the introduction is therefore necessary.
Part 1:  What is slavery? Having no control over oneself means not having the freedom to overcome our weaknesses – that is slavery.  If a person can use self-control over chocolate, pizza, drugs, internet, gambling etc… that is freedom.  Through Torah any human being can take control of him or herself.  The purpose of life is to work and maximize oneself and that is freedom.  
Key Points:  
1. God took the Jews came out of Egypt as a Nation.  
2. God took Egypt out of the Jews and made them free.  
3. Freedom is established by entering a life of Torah and Mitzvot and a relationship with G-d, this is challanging but it makes us bigger and more (or: Freer) that makes humans free. Therefore until the Jews received the Torah they were not yet completely free of Egypt.

Part 2:  How can a slave begin to trust? In the relationship with Hashem the key test is trust. This is exemplified by the journey in the desert facing the need for daily water in combination with rising sense of insecurity leading to conflict between each other.  Lessons are drawn from both the side of the Jews dealing with the individual stress spilling over into community behavior and dis-unification – being “vayarev” (when they arrive and see that there is no water) and “vayalin” (when they are actually thirsty)- and how Moshe responds to each complaint.  
Continuing from last year into the story of the Chumash (five books of Moshe).  Reading inside begins at 14:47 (“Vayisu” – “and they journeyed”)  Behind the scenes with the Jews traveling with a rock that is called “the well of Miriam”.

Parshas Nitzovim- Vayelech (5780/ 2020) How many times is Moshe going to warn us?
This class presents and analyzes Moshe’s (i.e. the Torah’s) prophecy that is repeated SIX TIMES!!! and in hindsight has clearly been revealed in the painful and miraculous story of Jewish history. 
The prophecy says in various ways between Parshios Vaeschanan, Nitzavim, Vayelech and Haazinu that “after I (Moshe) dies Yidden will sin and tregedy will befall the people, including exile and then they will do Teshuva and return. 
Why does the Torah repeat it six times? Especially if the statement of the prophecy puts power behind the prophecy.  How is this consistent with free will? 
This class provides insight into this paradox and reveals an inspiring lesson for our generation.
Three answers:
A. when the founder of any movement passes away the ideology of the movement has to become more important than the personality who inspired it, and Moshe is acutely aware of this.
B. Teshuva is very special and almost justifies what comes before it (see Hil Teshuva Chapter 7 Halacha 5.
C. a negative prophecy can be reversed, so it isn’t interfering with free will.

Ma’amar from The Alter Rebbe in Likutei Torah on Balak – is a classic ma’amar of teshuva.  The second Teshuva is ila’a it’s called עשה טוב to create (Yesod) a connection to the Ein Sof.
This Teshuva heals the past.

This class moves on the the third type of teshuva – reconnecting with God. The text studied in this shiur is Chapter 31 in the Tanya.  The main message of Chapter 31 is to choose joy.  The class also includes a brief review which sets the context for teshuva type 3.  
Teshuva type 1 – teshuva tata – is healing the “p’gam” (blemish) or removing the blemish or the bad habit.  
Teshuva type 2 – teshuva ila’a – is about healing the relationship with Hashem (stopping the merida (rebellion)
Teshuva type 3 – becoming one with Atzmus (essence of God). This teshuva is not about self it is about becoming one with Hashem and choosing joy

Text: Tzemach Tzedek “Derech Mitzvosecha” . 
This class covers the fact that Teshuva can only be done in this (physical) world and several aspects of soul cleansing after the physical lifespan ends. As there is no teshuva in Gan Eden, better to do teshuva in the world than to wait for the spiritual cleanup. 
Two reasons:
A. This world is Chessed (like water is a solvent, the evil is diluted).
B. The world is a chaotic place and we are striving to give it order.  So long as this world is not organized in the midst of the chaos you have Infinity.  It is a fault in us that we are not organized but in the middle of this chaos teshuva can happen – miracles happen.
