This is the first in a series of classes on Purim. These classes were taught at Machon Chana and each class is self-contained and can be listened to outside the series. This first class addresses several questions related to Purim - Why use a name in Persian for the yom tov (holiday)? Why use a name that reminds us of the tragedy rather than the miracle? Why is G-d's name not mentioned in the entire Megillah? and more. This class draws on a sicha in yiddish from the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Likutei Sichos, volume 6, pp.189-195). All yiddish is translated clearly and this class is accessible to beginners.
